The discovery resources are a very interesting overview of Wikis. It seems they all list the pros and cons "quick and easy to use" and "anyone can make changes". On the other hand, there is "not enough control" and "open to vandalism".
To safeguard the information a restriction can be placed on a site that allows only members to make changes. Also use of email validation and some charge a subscription, this all helps to cut down on vandalism.
