#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning...

goal -- learn new things

1. Begin with the end in mind
Is a very positive approach as any task can become overwhelming if there aren't any boundaries

2.Accept responsibility for your own learning
If not me, then who will complete my tasks

3.View problems as challenges
If at first you don't succeed then try, try again

4. Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner
If you keep learning it becomes a habit a good habit

5.Create your own learning toolbox
Keep all the things you learn in your toolbox and keep using them so you don't become "rusty"

6. Use technology to your advantage
This learning program was showing/teaching us to do just that

7. Teach and mentor others
Yes, absolutely without the discussions/chats/look at this/do you know what happened there, we would NOT have gotten very far

7 1/2. PLAY!Have fun! It's never too late to become a lifelong learner
Probably the most important as long as you don't lose sight of your goal

#22 Audiobooks (or "the end is in sight")

Wow...NO OVERDUES OR LIBRARY FINES !
I had a look at Project Gutenberg online catalog, one category that intrigued me was "audiobook human-read". After checking that field I also discovered "audiobook computer-generated". I'm not sure whether they would sound much different when coming through speakers/headphones.

World eBook Fair states there are 220,000 eBooks from the Internet Archive and like a paper library free access to researchers, historians, scholars and the general public.
eBooks are certainly the way of the future!!

Will people still want to "read a book" by that I mean hold a book and turn the pages, yes I think so at least for a little while longer...

#21 Podcasts, Smodcasts!

I added "Blogging from the Alley" which is "dedicated to delivering the best and most entertaining news on podcasting" to my Bloglines account. After looking at some of the entries it is easy to see why, it covers a wide range of subjects which include a technical guide to podcasts to one on wine and beer.

As far as podcasts in libraries they are a great learning tool but would be difficult to manage as they would be noisy and the use of headphones would also be difficult to monitor.

It was nice to finally put a face to Helen Blowers, the voice we have been listening to over the last nine weeks...

#20 You too can YouTube

www.youtube.com a place of fun and games with an array of many interesting things, a fast moving place where lots of things happen, nothing like this peaceful picture...

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

I looked at Web 2.0 awards under the category of "Questions and Advice". The winners were answers.yahoo.com and "Minti" and "Say-so"
The social aspect of these sites are very high everyone would have fun !!
When Yahoo asks "what do people think of Answers" the responses from the users were positive.

Yahoo states it answers "questions on every topic imaginable". It was certainly interesting to see the range of subjects covered. You also must wonder where all the answers are coming from - reliable sources or not.

Perhaps Yahoo's disclaimer says it all

#18 Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops

The ability to create and share documents is very handy. It was also very straightforward to use and more accessible than Microsoft. The templates are very good and enables you to do just about anything.

Another new and exciting tool to get to know.

I especially liked planner.zoho.com at this time of year it would be good to organise all my Christmas lists and all my Christmas get togethers...

#17 Playing around with PBWiki

I have just finished playing around with plcmclearning.pbwiki.com

Tried my hand at editing in the favorite books section. It certainly would be a place to visit again to check out what others are currently reading.

I have also added my blog to the favorites...
